THE CAGP BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE SEEKING MEMBERS TO JOIN!

The CAGP is calling for nominees for the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry Board of Directors. CAGP is accepting nominations for five available positions on the Board. The positions are to start at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, September 29, 2023, where all elected candidates will begin their two year term.

As per the CAGP Bylaws, we are specifically looking for:

1 member from Quebec

1 French speaking member (any province)

1 member in training (MIT)

2 other members who qualify to join the CAGP Board

The Board meets at least once per year in person at the Annual Scientific Meeting and at regular intervals throughout the year (approx. 11 times) via teleconference. Click here for more information on Board responsibilities

Nomination requirements

Each nomination shall be accompanied by the signatures of three (3) Academy members in good standing.

The Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health (CCSMH) is a major initiative of the CAGP. The Coalition is mandated to advocate for and promote seniors’ mental health and to connect people, ideas, and resources in the interest of research on seniors’ mental health. Affiliates are updated on CCSMH (and their key partners’) initiatives in the field of seniors’ mental health through emails and quarterly e-newsletters.

RSPSC examination registration dates

The RCPSC Geriatric Psychiatry subspecialty exam is generally written as part of the Fall RCPSC exams. For fall subspecialties examinations the assessment deadline is August 31, one year before you wish to take the examination; examination registration deadline is May 15 of the year you write the examination. Please refer to the RCPSC website for information on the examination process.

DONATIONS TO THE CAGP

The CAGP actively promotes initiatives focusing on the mental health of the Canadian elderly population. As a national organization we recognize the growing need for geriatric psychiatrists evidenced in the growth of the elderly population and lack of access in many Canadian regions.

Donations pledged can also be directed towards supporting advocacy initiatives, educational opportunities, the Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health, as well as more generally to support the various projects undertaken by the CAGP.
